Lunch&Learn: From Fear to Flourishing
How One Female Business Owner Built a Culture That Actually Works
What does it take to transform a workplace where people walk on eggshells into one where they show up energized, loyal, and proud? Bridget Holleran Coe, President and owner of Baja Beach Wellness, knows firsthand — because she lived it.
When Bridget took over as sole owner of Baja Beach Wellness in 2020, she inherited more than four salon locations. She inherited a team shaped by a fear-based culture that stifled creativity, crushed morale, and drove turnover. Rather than accept the status quo, she made a deliberate choice to rebuild from the inside out.
In this Lunch & Learn, Bridget will share her personal journey as a female business owner who rose through the ranks — from part-time high school employee to sole owner of a 30-year-old, multi-location wellness brand — and the hard lessons she learned about what culture really means. She'll walk you through the specific mindset shifts and practical steps that moved her team from fear to collaboration, and what that transformation has meant for her business, her staff, and her customers.
Whether you're leading a team of five or fifty, this conversation is for anyone who believes that people are the foundation of a thriving business.
You'll leave with:
- A clearer understanding of how fear-based cultures develop (and how to recognize them)
- Practical strategies for building trust, communication, and shared ownership on your team
- Insight into the unique challenges and opportunities of leading as a woman in business
- A framework for creating a culture your employees — and customers — can feel
Bridget Holleran Coe | President & Owner, Baja Beach Wellness
Bridget Holleran Coe's story with Baja Beach Wellness didn't begin in a boardroom — it began behind a front desk, working part-time as a high school student and falling in love with the industry and the relationships she built with clients. That foundation of genuine connection has guided everything she's done since.
After joining the ownership team in 2016 and expanding Baja Beach's wellness offerings, Bridget became the sole owner of all four Berks County locations in October 2020. Under her leadership, what was once a traditional tanning salon has evolved into a 100% female-owned wellness destination, with more than $2 million invested in state-of-the-art services including cryotherapy, red light therapy, infrared sauna pods, body sculpting, and advanced skincare — all designed to help clients look and feel their best.
But the transformation Bridget is perhaps most proud of isn't measured in equipment or revenue — it's the culture she's built. Inheriting a workplace shaped by fear and top-down pressure, she made it her mission to create something different: a team-driven, collaborative environment where staff are knowledgeable, valued, and genuinely excited to come to work.
Today, Baja Beach Wellness operates four locations across Berks County — in Wyomissing, Sinking Spring, Laureldale, and Exeter — and continues to grow as a trusted name in Berks County wellness. Bridget is committed not only to the wellbeing of her clients, but to the wellbeing of her team — because she knows that one fuels the other.
