Vivi  y asisti  a la escuela en el Colegio Padre Fortin en la Rep blica Dominicana desde los 9 hasta los 14 a os.  Johanny es una orgullosa madre de dos j venes adultos que actualmente est n matriculados en la universidad: Enith\, de 22 a os\, estudia en la Universidad George Washington\, y Elias\, de 20 a os\, asiste al Reading Area Community College y est  casado con Felix Freytiz III. \n\n \n\nJohanny se gradu  en el instituto Mother Cabrini de Nueva York y asisti  a la State University of New York en New Paltz College\, donde se especializ  en franc s\, hizo una asignatura secundaria en espa ol\, estudi  en el extranjero en Par s\, Francia\, en 1994 y obtuvo una licenciatura en Artes.  Tambi n obtuvo un M ster en Ciencias de la Educaci n en la Long Island University y se convirti  en orientadora biling e.  Durante m s de una d cada\, trabaj  para Grand Street Settlement y ocup  el cargo de directora de programas del Beacon Center\, un centro comunitario escolar situado en el Lower East Side de Manhattan\, Nueva York.  Adem s de su papel como directora de programas\, trabaj  a tiempo parcial como orientadora universitaria en el instituto Marta Valle\, donde se encuentra el centro comunitario.\n\nEn 2007\, Johanny decidi  dejar la ciudad de Nueva York y su prometedora carrera para convertirse en emprendedora y empresaria.  Traslad  a su familia a Reading\, Pensilvania\, para fundar el Mi Casa Su Casa Caf \, ubicado en el 320 de Penn Street\, en el centro de Reading.  Se gradu  en el programa de negocios del Centro de Desarrollo de Peque as Empresas de la Universidad de Kutztown y del Centro de Recursos Empresariales Latinos en la primavera de 2009.  En noviembre de 2009\, Johanny recibi  el Premio James Hyson al Emprendedor otorgado por Community First Fund.  En enero de 2011\, fue galardonada como Empresaria del A o por la C mara de Comercio Latino del Condado de Berks.  El 30 de marzo de 2017\, recibi  el premio Take the Lead 2017 otorgado por las Girl Scouts del Este de Pensilvania.  En 2020\, Johanny recibi  el Premio H roe COVID-19 de United Community Services y en 2021 fue galardonada como Socia Empresarial del A o con la Cinta P rpura por la Domestic Shelters Organization.  En octubre de 2024\, fue galardonada como L der Comunitaria del A o por Latino Connections.\n\n \n\nJohanny ha formado parte de la junta directiva de Safe Berks (anteriormente conocida como Berks Women in Crisis)\, la Biblioteca P blica de Reading\, la Greater Reading Chamber Alliance\, El Centro Hispano Daniel Torres\, as  como en el Comit  Asesor Laboral del CTC de Reading Muhlenberg.\n\n \n\nEn octubre de 2016\, Johanny y su marido Felix ampliaron Mi Casa Su Casa para ofrecer una cena aut ntica de buffet latino una vez a la semana en el Crowne Plaza Hotel\, Wyomissing.  En abril de 2018\, ampliaron Mi Casa Su Casa al mercado de agricultores de Shillington.\n\n \n\nJohanny fue nombrado concejal representando al Distrito 6 de la ciudad de Reading en enero de 2019. Luego\, en noviembre de 2019\, fue elegida por el pueblo para servir como concejala del Distrito 6 y en enero de 2020 comenz  a cumplir su mandato de cuatro a os.  En junio de 2022\, fue nombrada por unanimidad presidenta del Ayuntamiento de Reading\, convirti ndose en la primera mujer en ocupar ese cargo.\n\n \n\nEl 3 de enero de 2023\, Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz comenz  su primer mandato como representante estatal de Pensilvania para el distrito legislativo 129. She lived and attended school at the Colegio Padre Fortin in the Dominican Republic from the ages of 9 to 14. Cepeda-Freytiz  is a proud mother to two young adults who are currently enrolled in college: Enith 22\, attends George Washington University\, and Elias\, 20 attends Reading Area Community College\, and is married to Felix Freytiz III. \n\n \n\nCepeda-Freytiz graduated from Mother Cabrini High School in New York City and attended the State University of New York at New Paltz College where she majored in French\, minored in Spanish\, studied abroad in Paris\, France in 1994 and earned a bachelor?s degree of Arts. She also obtained a Master of Science in Education degree from Long Island University and became a bilingual guidance counselor. For over a decade\, she worked for Grand Street Settlement and held the position of Program Director for the Beacon Center\, a school-based community center located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan\, New York City. In addition to her role as program director\, she worked part time as the college counselor for Marta Valle secondary school where the community center is housed.\n\n\n\nIn 2007\, Cepeda-Freytiz  chose to leave New York City and her promising career to become an entrepreneur/businesswoman. She relocated her family to Reading\, Pa.\, to establish Mi Casa Su Casa Caf \, located at 320 Penn St.\, Reading. She graduated from Kutztown University Small Business Development Center and Latino Business Recourse Center business program in the spring of 2009. Later that year\, Cepeda-Freytiz  was the recipient of the James Hyson Entrepreneur Award from Community First Fund. In January 2011\, she was awarded the Businessperson of the Year by the Berks County Latino Chamber of Commerce. She was the recipient of the Take the Lead 2017 Award by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. In 2020\, Cepeda-Freytiz received the COVID-19 Hero Award from United Community Services and in 2021\, she was awarded Purple Ribbon Business Partner of the Year by the Domestic Shelters Organization. Cepeda-Freytiz was awarded Community Leader of the Year by Latino Connections in 2024.\n\n \n\nCepeda-Freytiz  has served on the board of Safe Berks (formerly known as Berks Women in Crisis)\, the Reading Public Library\, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance\, El Centro Hispano Daniel Torres as well as\, on the Reading Muhlenberg CTC Occupational Advisory Committee.\n\n \n\nIn October 2016\, Cepeda-Freytiz and her husband Felix expanded Mi Casa Su Casa to offer once a week authentic Latino dinner buffet services at the Crowne Plaza Hotel\, Wyomissing. Less than two years later\, they expanded Mi Casa Su Casa to the Shillington Farmer?s market.\n\n \n\nCepeda-Freytiz was appointed to City Council representing District 6 in the city of Reading in January 2019. Later that year\, she was elected by the people to serve as City Councilwoman for District 6 and in January 2020 began serving her four-year term. She was unanimously appointed to President of Reading City Council becoming the first woman to serve in that role in June 2022\n\n \n\nOn Jan. 3\, 2023\, Cepeda-Freytiz began her first term as the PA State Representative for the 129th legislative district. Later that year\, she was elected by the people to serve as City Councilwoman for District 6 and in January 2020 began serving her four-year term. She was unanimously appointed to President of Reading City Council becoming the first woman to serve in that role in June 2022<br />\n&nbsp\;<br />\nOn Jan.&nbsp\;3\, 2023\, Cepeda-Freytiz began her first term as the PA State Representative for the 129th legislative district.
